"I'm really enjoying being part of it" This is typical of the feedback and sentiment from almost 60 apartment owners that attended The Podium pre-settlement events at The Apartments in May. Owners of apartments on floors G,1,2 and 3 were invited to inspect their new apartment prior to settlement and to enjoy a relaxed and informal welcome to their new home. The 60 apartments on the first 4 levels will be the first to settle and be occupied as The Apartments continues to progress to completion. Owners assembled in Kendall Lane, met and mingled with their new neighbours over a welcome drink accompanied by beautiful music from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra Harpist and were then invited into the stunning lobby. Following introductions from The Molonglo Group, Colliers International and an always passionate perspective on the art program from Pamille Berg, guests were then escorted to their new apartment. Without exception the feedback on the building, facilities and each individual residence has been very positive. Thank you to all those who attended. And for those on floors 4 and above we look forward to inviting you to preview your apartment over coming months. Welcome Home We think you'll be delighted the first time - and every time you enter the stunning lobby of The Apartments and view the latest installation as part of the extensive art program for NewActon. The precinct's public art collection already features works by renowned artists such as Warren Langley, Robin Blau, Arthur Wicks and Al Stark, and now has an exciting new addition in the form of three related works by Melbourne-based sculptor Heather B. Swann. Ms Swann's commission comprises seven large-scale sculptural and design elements that define the foyer of The Apartments, creating a beautiful and dramatic space for residents and visitors alike to enjoy within NewActon's new residential complex. NewActon's Art Program Consultant, Pamille Berg of Pamille Berg Consulting, said the three new works include a sculptural group entitled 'The Waiters', a monumental sculpture entitled 'The Watcher' which incorporates the residents' mailboxes, and a 10-metre floor rug specially designed for the space. "The works were created by Ms Swann in response to a design brief which sought to create a lively, rich and welcoming sense of 'coming home' for the diverse owners and residents of the 190 apartments within the new complex," Ms Berg said. The works from Ms Swann join the 'Woodies' artwork - a feature of the lobby wall and the entire space is warmed by the stunning recycled timbers from the store of the Canberra Rex Hotel. We hope all of our owners, residents and visitors feel welcomed every time they walk into The Apartments. Time Flies Many Canberran's have commented on the wonderful, distinctive architecture of the building. Now at lock-up stage, the building is taking shape and is in many ways finally 'revealed'. Since the commencement of the project we have had a camera mounted at a nearby vantage point, refreshing progressive images of the development every 15 minutes. From these stills we've now created a time-lapse video of the entire construction allowing viewers to see two years of work in just under two minutes. So, if you've not recently had a chance to view the building, or if you'd just like to see how it has all happened, visit The Apartments website or click here to see the video. |
