These holidays Canberra's most exciting and vibrant entertainment destination is NewActon. NewActon's choc full of exciting news and events for everyone to enjoy during the holiday break. You can experience outdoor movies in the courtyard, National Youth Week for the kids, live music, exciting contemporary art, delicious gourmet foods and so much more.
NewActon's new, luxurious, residential centerpiece, The ApARTments, continues to track nicely for completion in 2010. The big news this Easter is the building is growing and you can watch the floor of your apartment being poured. More about this shortly.
The ApARTments were inspired by art and creativity. We're excited to release news of plans for The ApARTments lobby to become a magical, engaging work of contemporary art and creative installations. Just part of the Molonglo team's philosophy to constantly engage people through art. You can look forward to more amazing sculptures and 'eccentric' new art installations such as the extraordinary new Boatman from the NewActon artistic community.

Witness the pouring of your apartment's concrete floor. Look out for an email that'll tell you when your floor is being poured.
There are a number of exciting locations to view 'the pour' such as the nearby footbridge for example. Afterward why not visit the Parlour Wine Room or Flint Dining Room and Bar to celebrate the completion of this exciting stage of development. You can also contact your Colliers agent who'll take you to the perfect location to view all the action and keep you fully informed of The ApARTments progress.

Cleaning up our act
As part of NewActon's continuing commitment to the environment NewActon is hosting National Youth Week through March and April. National Youth Week is promoting a cleaner environment for future generations to enjoy. NewActon's commitment to the environment also includes offsetting all of their vehicles' carbon emissions (and encouraging tenants to do the same), cigarette butt collectors, bike racks, water tanks and low level LED strip lights in public areas. See the Molonglo Group website for more information.

Re-designed by artist Arthur Wicks, the Boatman is NewActon's latest stunning artistic, hand fabricated installation. As you pass the Boatman, a motion detector activates random pre programmed movements. Wicks imagines his sculpture moving 'across a vast void', 'the destination is not clear'. The Boatman has been bought to NewActon by the Molonglo Group in collaboration with Pamille Berg, Art Consultant for the NewActon precinct. Look for it in the glass display on Marcus Clarke Street.

| Paul and Derek support Movember. |
Not your stereotypical real estate agent's, Colliers International's Paul Powderly, State Chief Executive and Derek Whitcombe, State Product Director - Residential Project Marketing, are much more than meets the eye. These days they form Canberra's most experienced and awarded real estate team.
Derek's passionate about everything in his life. From food, flying, family, sport and of course real estate. For over thirty years Derek still, "can't have a conversation social or otherwise that doesn't end up with real estate advice". It comes as no surprise to learn what Derek wanted to be when he grew up? "A real estate agent".
High amongst Derek's list of achievements is winning the 1996 'Single Engine Pylon' racing event in Tasmania. This year Derek's vowed to add a new fitness regime to this list, "my gym membership started with a request that I get a release signed by my doctor before they'll let me start...I'll get that soon." Derek certainly has his work cut out, as Flint's Restaurant's named a pizza in his honor. After all these years though, his wife's lamb curry is still number one.
Paul or better known as "Mr Fix-it" to his friends, is as famous in Canberra for building long term relationships amongst all levels of business, society and government as his wine cellar and sun glasses collection. Paul's, "the hardest working person I've known in the industry, starting very early in the morning and finishing very late every day" reflects Derek. When Paul does escape the pressures of work he hits the golf course and has even played a round with Greg Norman. Paul like Derek has vowed to drop ten kilo's this winter. He's two kilo's down with eight to go. The competition's on.
When it comes to getting the balance right, even Paul and Derek disagree.

Following a fairly relaxed Christmas period the enquiry rate for The ApARTments picked up enormously in late January and in fact was as strong as ever. A large number of sales have since occurred to savvy investors and there is no doubt that both investors and live in buyers are making 'a flight to quality' in this project.
There have also been quite a number of sales of apartments in excess of $1.5 million, which proves that if you build a high quality development in a great precinct, market forces are not so relevant. For the month of March sales activity was equally as strong as it was in the middle of last year and there is little doubt that on completion there will be very few apartments, if any, available.
There are some one, two and three bedroom apartments still left and much of the enquiry for the development is coming from people who are observing the development coming up out of the ground.
Derek Whitcombe. State Product Director - Residential Project Marketing. Colliers International.
